Family Roundtable

A place for families to participate in System of Care activities AND make a difference.

The purpose of the family roundtables, which are facilitated in both English and Spanish (check the Event Calendar for dates), was to create a place where the voices of families, who have children with emotional and behavioral challenges, could gather together and share their ideas, feedback and their experiences in order to influence the decision-making process at the systems level of children's mental health across Monroe County.

The roundtables come together each month to work on:

  • supporting families to become involved in the county's System of Care through participation in other committees and work groups
  • sharing information that helps family members and caregivers to successfully navigate the systems (mental health, child welfare, probation, education, etc...)
  • reviewing the local national evaluation data andmake recommendations based upon the data review

Raising children can be difficult and frustrating.

Children at times behave in ways that are extremely challenging and may be due to untreated mental health problems.

You are not alone.

The family roundatbles meet monthly; if you are a parent then you are encouraged to RSVP to one of the roundtables where refreshments and child care are provided, as well as, transportation for those that cannot obtain their own.

If you are struggling and want to be heard and make a difference, then the roundtable could be an important way for you to participate in this valuable System of Care work.  Getting involved by participating at a family roundtable could help you and your child have a brighter future.  We hope you will come to the next meeting.  Go the Event Calendar for dates and times.

Families that attend the roundtables indicate they...

  • feel more supported
  • have a better understanding of their children
  • no longer feel that they are not alone
  • get valuable information to help them with their children
  • feel that their voice is heard by systems to make good changes
  • have an opportunity to tell systems what it is really like for families
